Clinics
The following services are available by appointment only:
Maternity Services
(See Community Midwives)
Child Health Surveillance Clinic
This service monitors the mental and physical progress of your child and will be arranged automatically by the health centre for your child up to the age of five years.
Chronic Disease Clinics
Including diabetic, asthma, blood pressure and cardiovascular clinics.
Minor Surgery
A number of doctors are able to carry out minor surgical procedures including joint injections and removal of some skin lesions. We also run a clinic for the removal of warts.
Travel Clinic
Advice and immunisations for foreign travel.
Contraceptive Services
All doctors provide family planning services in normal surgeries. The practice nurses are trained to give family planning advice. Some GPs insert coils and this can also be arranged.
X-rays
If your GP recommends an X-ray, most simple ones can be carried out at the health centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Chiropody
This is available on the NHS for diabetics and senior citizens.
Medical Examination Not Covered By The NHS
This can be arranged with the receptionists who will tell you the fee involved. These are usually arranged for Tuesday evenings.
Other Clinics
Referral to the following clinics can be arranged by your GP: dietician, smoking cessation, counselling service and physiotherapy (a well equipped physiotherapy department is located in the Cottage Hospital).
